As pets age, their bodies go through changes just like ours.  Some problems are easy to fix, but most pets will develop at least one ongoing health concern in their lifetime.  Chronic skin or eye disease, liver disease, kidney insufficiency, hormone dysregulation, joint disease, and heart and lung problems are all common.  Proper management of these conditions doesn’t fit into a typical visit to a veterinarian.  At Buckman Veterinary Clinic, we take the time both in-clinic and with detailed follow up to make sure we are optimizing your pet’s health.

The world still has a lot to learn about diseases and treatments, particularly in species besides our own.  Although we don’t have perfect answers to every question, there is still a lot we do know and our understanding is evolving every day.  Not all therapies are created equal.  Many touted even by other veterinarians have little evidence to support their use.  While keeping an open mind towards new or alternative therapies that are still being understood, we always strive to provide you with the best information available to help your pet.  In the partners we work with, we select those with the same philosophy to bring you the safest and best-researched products and services for animal health.

Even with the latest knowledge, we understand that it doesn’t help your pet if we don’t effectively communicate with you.  We will work with you to clearly explain any options you have in choosing therapies for your pet and give you the information and support you need to help them.  If your pet needs special care for their unique problem, we will do what it takes to find you the answers you need.

We believe great veterinary care is a partnership between pets, their people, and our clinic.  All the veterinary medicine in the world doesn’t help if we don’t understand your concerns and give you authentic tools to help your pet.  Medications spit out behind the couch or physical therapy techniques your pet isn’t able to do never helped any animal.  We will work with you to find a plan that fits your family.
